HTG offers two general types of hosting. Unlimited and Business Class.  We also offer a variety of Hosting and Maintenance packages to help keep your site up and going.

How do you know which type of package to choose? Isn't unlimited bandwidth and unlimited diskspace better?  Well, on the surface it may seem that way.  To make the determination, one has to understand what "unlimited" means.  The term is usually defined in the terms of service of a hosting company as "no predefined limit".  That's how it's done in the hosting industry.  This is a term commonly used for "Shared" hosting accounts with shared resources.  This is a wonderful concept that can work for many users.  However, when dealing with shared resources, a hosting company has to make sure that the limited resources available are fairly distributed among the users.  If one user begins using more resources than the others, and the others are suffering, the hosting company may have to disable the account of the resource intensive user in order to preserve the quality of service of everyone else.  While this isn't a situation that commonly occurs, it is something that could happen.

A Business Class hosting package through Horizon Technology Group allows you to guarantee your account isn't disabled just because your site is doing well.  You receive a predetermined amount of resources and when you reach your limit, you automatically receive more.  Regardless of how much you use. If your site is selling a product, service, or engaging in a charitable endeavor, then traffic means more people are seeing  what you have to offer.  More traffic equals a more successful site!

So do you get an Unlimited account or a Business Class hosting account.  We still need to put a number with it to be able to make a decision.  The typical web site uses less than 2GB of bandwidth on a monthly basis.  That's the number commonly used industry wide to make resource decisions.  If you anticipate a site with bandwidth requirements near or below that threshold, an Unlimited site will probably work well for you.  If you anticipate using anything above that or if your site is a mission critical part of your organization, you should consider guaranteeing your resources with a Business Class hosting package.  Remember, more traffic equals a more successful site!
